Privacy Policy

ChinApps is a free travel guide for people going to mainland China, available on iOS and Android. This policy covers both versions and explains what the app does and does not do with information. The short version: ChinApps has no account system, no analytics, and no tracking, and it does not collect any personal data.

Information we collect

None. ChinApps does not collect, transmit, or store any personal information. There is no sign-up, no login, and no user profile. We do not use analytics, advertising, or tracking software of any kind, and we do not use third-party SDKs that collect data.

Information stored on your device

The app saves a small amount of information locally so it can remember your preferences between launches. This never leaves your device, and we cannot see it:

• Your departure date, if you set one
• Which pre-departure tasks you have marked as done
• The address card you fill in, so you can show it to a driver
• On iOS only: the medical card you fill in — blood type, allergies, medical conditions, medication and an emergency contact — so you can show it to a doctor or pharmacist. This is health information, so to be completely clear: it is written to your device's own storage, it is never uploaded, it is never shared with us or anyone else, and it is shown on screen only when you choose to show it
• Whether you have switched trip reminders on
• On iOS only: whether you have made a donation, so the app can thank you

Deleting ChinApps removes all of it.

Network requests

ChinApps does not send your information anywhere. The app's guides, phrases and trip plan are built into the app and work with no connection at all.

On iOS, the only network use is Apple's own in-app purchase framework, which handles the optional donation. Payments are processed entirely by Apple and we never see or receive your payment details. If you never donate, the iOS app makes no network requests at all.

On Android, the app makes no network requests of its own, and has no donations.

Reminders

If you switch reminders on, they are scheduled and shown by your own device. Nothing is sent to us or to anyone else, and no reminder leaves your phone.

Links out of the app

The guides describe services you may need in China and name them so you can find them. The iOS app contains no links to other apps or to any app store. The Android version can open a named app's page on Google Play, or the maker's own website where it is not published there; following such a link takes you out of ChinApps. Any app or website you reach that way is run by another company and governed by its own privacy policy, not this one. We have no relationship with them and no control over what they do with your information.

Children

ChinApps is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect information from anyone.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted on this page with a new date at the top.
